Last week I was interviewed by Romain Cochet from Green Monkey Blog – a site aimed to help indie’s improve their marketing, communication and business strategies. A short extract can be seen below and you can read the whole piece here: http://g-monkey.com/interview-indie-game-launchpad/
I think that Indie Game Launchpad helps you to meet a lot of Indie developer. This experience has probably helped you to understand better and identify their struggles.
So, from your experience what’s the most common problem developer meet? And how to overcome it?
The most common is the need of exposure for their work. There are so many games out there today and some of the most incredibly creative, fun and beautiful games drop under most people’s radar because they are not backed up by multi-millions being spent on marketing. Another issue I have encountered is the need for support and encouragement when things aren’t going totally to plan. It can be quite a lonely experience at times if you are a solo or small team dev so I would encourage people to reach out and chat and share experiences with other developers. Everyone I have encountered in this ‘indie world’ are so welcoming of one another and I would recommend joining in on events such as #indiedevhour which takes place on twitter on every Wednesday at 7pm GMT to meet new people.
