We are proud to announce the immanent release of our first mobile title Mandala – The Game of Life. This completely unique board game mechanism was a huge hit in the 1980’s and almost 40 years later we are able to bring it to a world wide digital audience. This version of the game will be a free to play game with multiple Characters, Pawns and in app purchasing as well as mobile adverts as the monetisation strategy.
The object of the game is to advance your pieces towards the centre of a decreasing series of concentric rings. Once you reach the centre circle, you score a point and are returned to the start. Along the way other players can land on your pieces to capture them, scoring a point in turn. Easy, right?
Each player takes their turn by rolling five coloured dice, each one corresponding with a matching pair of coloured rings.
For each dice, the player gets to move one of those matching rings a corresponding number of places in either direction. This changes the approach to the centre circle for every player.
Mandala is uniquely challenging as every turn results in a new configuration of the board. While planning is still a key part of the gameplay, the random factor of the dice and the decisions of your opponents mean you can never have a fool proof strategy. What’s more, a move that benefits you in the short-term can end up aiding your opponents more as the game progresses..
The real beauty of Mandala, however, lies in the playing of it. Words and images on a screen are no substitute to diving in and making your move.
HISTORY
Mandala is a game with a storied history. Created in 1982 by the forerunner to Digital Future Games – the aptly named Future Games – it was a near-overnight success. This esoteric, award-winning game was a masterpiece of design, shifting over 115,000 units in its first run. Its unique style and innovative game mechanics kept players enthralled from the first game. Today, almost forty years later, there has never been anything quite like it.
Until now…
